Boho Berkeley Dress from Kaliko

Kaliope Kara's has created a cute new denim dress with 2 skirt options! A cute babydoll option and a sexy mini dress look.




I am the one on the left by the way.

This weekend her Brick color option is being offered at 60L. Other colors are at regular price of 200L and include; Plum, Forest, Brown and Rose. Each a slightly different pattern.

With the shape of the babydoll dress, she has also included an alpha to hid the hips and butt so they don't stick out. Also, she kept in mind that some have viewers that only support 1 alpha, so a second alpha was done to include the hip/butt and the feet for those who would like to wear sandals that include prim feet.

Not So Plain "Jane" and other things

So basically every single blogger from Dressing In Pixels all got hit with a severe case of RL. Now that things are a bit calmer, you will be seeing more from at least me. I figure easiest will be to feature a "look of the day".

It seems Janie Marlowe has a new store called Jane. Lots of great basic. Plus she has been very generous by offering free tanks in a ton of colors and scarves to boot. I love the fit of the scarves so much I bought a few packs. I may have to feature a bit more later this week.

Per Nivaya, it is now autumn so we must dress a bit more warmly. So I have taken to wearing cardigans. This one is from Miseria.

Etheria- When Jewelers Dream

I have been constantly amazed at the detail work jewelry designers in SL have accomplished. From June 13 to June 20th, many of these wonderful designers have collaborated with fantasy clothing designers to put forth a plethora of dreaminess.

Here are just a couple of examples of loveliness that can be found at the Etheria event.

First up is a collaboration with Dark Mouse and Lark called Fae Dress and Fae Jewelry. Both the dress in the Jewelry come in Silver, Gold or Copper. Lark give 2 skirt attachment options, so I decided to add a bit of fullness by wearing both. Also Dark Mouse gave both spine and chest attachment options with the necklace.


Next up we have a great collaboration with Evie's Closet and MONKEE we have the Lyric Dress with Wings and the Dreamers Jewelry. MONKEE provides bracelet and necklace with or without resizer scripts.

Walking the Boards at Sand Shack Surf Co.

So first and foremost my apologies to Sand Shack Surf Co designer, Emma Gilmour, as I told her I would have this feature last week as she kindly gave me the opportunity to review these shoes.

Summer is just around the corner and here in my area of Sunny Florida I am so ready to hit the beach. In the Summer the sand can get incredibly hot and if your feet are tender shoes are imperative.

Emma has created this cute little slip on shoe called the Boardwalker. It comes in 16 different fun colors and patterns!





I will admit I am very late in discovering Surf Co. But I am now a devoted fan. Some other new items include the Moana Bikini and Shack Shorts shown below. I was very impressed by the fit of the prims on the shack shorts.



Also new are her Belmar Jeans. When it comes to Pants I am a die hard fan of the prim leg attachment to give that finished look. Instead of prims Emma used the sock option to give the pants the lean supper skinny look. She gives the option of plain jeans or with a subtle polka dot.



I have again used the colorful Boardwalker shoe and one of her cute new Slouchy Thread Sweater in Violet floral.

Elated! Nyte and Day

Due to an attack of Real life, my chance for early shopping was limited so I only hit 2 of the RFL Clothing Fair Sims. I figure I can so at least a little a day to share my favorites. Hopefully there will be more shopping in my future.

My first outfit features this great Moitie Coat (RFL 2010 Edition) in a hot fuschia pink. I have paired it with the Kaia dress in Night by Elate and the Josephine Pump by Indyra Originals. Nyte N' Day can be found in the Melbourne Section. Elate! is located in the New Dehli sim. Stay tuned for more great Elate items I can't wait to show off.



I ended up using my skirt shape to get the perfect line with the coat. The prim fits very well with minimal editing for me.
The Kaia dress also comes in a wide range of colors with pretty and subtle striping.

The hair I am wearing is a new release from Exile called Majandra and the skin is one of the new Makeups from Gala in her Cupid 2 pack.

Ahoy Matey! It's a great Ingenue Offer

Ok so this is just cute, being a fan of Ingenue I have quite a wardrobe and I don't blog her nearly as much as I should. I think Betty Doyle's retro creations are among my favorites. Taking a Tumble for Stumblebum

I love the look of Goth. Its actually more then a look, its a lifestyle. But I fear I will constantly be on the outside looking in. Still I try and with the help of this new Stumblebum Edition of a Dress by Munchflower Zaius of Nomine, I may have reached the point of at least looking passable.




I have opted not to hunt the grid for a "Gothic" setting. Rather I stayed lazy and took it in Nivaya and I's little bunny meadow. In the backround is the new Hearts Desire Tree by Botanical. This tree is scripted with options to drop its heart shaped leaves and has a little carved heart that you can write things in.



To accessorize my look, I pulled out a few things in my inventory that don't get worn often. The boots are by Nevermore, I have had them since I first joined and they STILL look amazing. She is doing her stuff online now and her boots and clothing can be found online at Sovereigncrux.com At only 125L the boots are an absoulte steal!

Rounding it off I grabbed one of the new Cupid skins from Gala a classic hair called Epona from Calico Creations and the Glazed Heart (color change) Necklace from Accessories by Eolande.

Inspiration and Design

Artists, writers, poets, designers, architects have one thing in common. They take inspiration from what they see, hear, and even feel.

I am one that loves when a designer see's an outfit,hairstyle, shoe, skin/makeup plant, building or whatever from RL and uses it as inspiration. To make it their own, they may tweak the pattern or texture or shape. There are many, like me, that size or finances don't allow us to purchase these things in RL. So being able to wear it, live in it or use it in SL is awesome. To show my support I have take this gown by Ivey Deschanel that was inspired by a dress featured on the RL Runway. To make it my own, I tweaked it a bit in photoshop to give my artistic touch. I am sure, Ivey would not mind. (fingers crossed)



There are many designers in SL that are regularly shop at because they have things I would wear in RL if I could. I am sure we can all take a look at our inventory and find something that you love because you saw it in RL first. I welcome my readers to send their pictures in as well. Quick Sparrow Loev!

Yesterday, I was a grumpy Niv, for no reason. It was sad. I was cheered up rather a lot though, when I noticed that hyasynth Tiramisu of silentsparrow had put of a GROUP GIFT. It's highly cheering indeed when hyasynth sets out group gifts, for a number of reasons. Firstly, free silentsparrow goodness. C'mon. That's reason enough. But secondly, and more importantly, I adore the way with group gifts and lucky chair sets, that hyasynth mixes and matches pieces from previous sets, to make awesome new sets. Takes all the work out of it for me. And also gives me the chance to take a different look at pieces I already have, and mash them together neatly. It's good and super.

This particular group gift is the Rose Madder Suite (somewhat matching to her Madder lingerie available in the Starlust Panty Raid). It features the jeans and jacket from the Aconite suit, an Aesthete waistcoat (not shown in my peekshures) and a Jangling Jack shirt, in varying tones of a deep pinkish red. My pictures really fail to do justice to it. The jacket in particular, is decorated all over with opulant brocade patterning, with a couple of ankhs thrown in there just to make you feel like a proper goth. The pants are velvetty and rich and dark and just gorgeous, with the shirt having just enough patterning to be interesting without being obnoxious. It really is terribly ironic that the thing that pulled me out of my bad mood was something that made me feel all moody and gothsome, but there it is. The magic of Miss Tiramisu strikes again.

In The Spotlight: MIEL

Niv's turn for some spotlighty goodness! This week Emee has prodded me out of my blogger hibernation, and with good reason, to continue the brand new but surely will be proud and classic tradition of Monday's In The Spotlight spot....light. In The Spotlight will showcase stores that the Dressing In Pixels team consider outstandingly lovely in terms of design, texturing, and general loveliness, while trying to stay away from strongly established brand names. My own personal extra criteria is that when I walk into the store for the first time, I am overwhelmed with the urge to buy it all up and to hell with the financial consequences. With this, my shiny spotlight falls upon a store we found on the Cupcake sim, Miel. Also, a honey cupcake sounds really good right now.

Due to my severe laziness, I had only heard about Miel the other day, with their prize on the Skipping Stones hunt, which I went "Oh cute! I should go looking there!" and then being extraordinarily absent-minded, forgot all about. It was only when I went on an exploratory stroll of Cupcake with Persephone and Emee that I actually found it again and went "Oh cute! I should buy everything!". Which neatly filled my above criteria and indeed I spent like a trooper. The designs are oh-so-very cute, and attention to detail on the clothing is just wonderful.

I've chosen to showcase their SF outfit in Coal. It consists of a babydollish sculpted tunic, with pockets with optional flowers in. FLOWERS! Flowers in my pocket! You see how I was sold by this concept. It's eccentric, cute, and yet rather elegant all at once. Marvellous! Worn with it is the matching shorts, with beautifully made little ties at the thighs, hand-drawn alpha textures that actually make sense as a bow when you zoom in on them. I love it when things look like what they're supposed to look like. It seems like such a simple thing, but it's really a mark of epic win when hand-drawn. All the wrinkles on the clothing are just right, which is another biggie with me, they're not just put there for the sake of it, or not at all, I dig some good wrinkles. I did have to enlarge the prims quite a bit to accomodate my curvylady hips, and belly, but that's what I get for eating all those prim cookies. With the outfit, I'm wearing the WPGIII Scarf in Maroon, sold seperately but a perfect accent to the dress, sophisticated and contrasting and long enough to wrap around an elephant. Being able to wrap things around elephants is not one of my important criteria, but I appreciate it in a scarf. I have my reasons. Trust me. You don't want to know.

Also delicious are Miel's shoes. I'm a sucker for wedges and mary-jane style shoes, and Miel's JANE shoes are all these things and more! Yes, more than two things! They come in three styles, FLOR, which I am wearing in the picture, with sculpted flowers, MONO, a plain style, and a plaid striped style which I suck too much to remember the name of, but dude! They're COLOUR CHANGE. Each style has three different colour styles to buy, a bright, a pastelly light and a neutral-ish, and various parts of the shoe can be colour-changed to glorious mix n' match....glory. To go with these supershoes, cute knee socks, in the same styles and colour choices, with the sculpted top of the socks equally colour change and versitile and infinitely win! I bought the Brights in both cases, in the spirit of breaking out of my box of...mostly black.
On my head, I sport Miel's AM TULIP headband, which has a matching skirt and top, buyable separately and really, how could I resist? I love tulips! And that's another thing I love about the store. various little accessories really complete each outfit, while remaining tasteful and yummily affordable.

So'anyway, I heartily recommend Miel to anyone with a sense for quirky eccentric quality and awesomeness and lovely things and am very quite glad that my absentmindedness didn't stop me from discovering this store. Summer Hits and Gypsy Bliss

So I am not in a creative frame of mind. I have new stuff to show off and that is exactly what I am going to do now!

I am a bad model, I work for the lovely Indyra Seigo of Indyra Originals and I know I should be showing off more of her great new releases.

This one is a New/Old Release. The Vida Dress originally come in Black and White and I always love this mini-dress with just a hint of sheer without being over the top. Many customers asked for more colors and Indyra delivered beautiful colors perfect for Summer. Featured here is Vida in Skittles Green combined with her Clarissa Shoes in Silver. All the accessories are from Indyra Orignals too.



I find I am wearing a lot more flats and capri's right now and the Luna Top by Leah McCullough is a step above the simple tank tip with it's brightly colored Hibiscus on the side. I have paired this with my fave cargo short from Malt.




Then Today Munchflower Zaius of Nomine released some additional pieces for her Gypsy Connection. I could say I gushed or I swooned, but that would be exaggerating. However, I do love this, her details and primwork is impeccable. I combined it with the Gitana top in White From Naive and new hair I found from [Gauze] called Relia. I definitely felt exotic.

Perfect Vlintuition!

When I logged in this morning I had received a notecard from the Vlintuition Subscriber. Designer and owner Vlinder Reitveld is hosting a Happy Songkran Sale. The Songkran Festival is the Thai New Year Celebration. (Yeah I had to Google it).

To Celebrate Vlinder has marked down all her items to 100L or Less! Vlinder was my first taste of Ethnic Clothing in SL.. She has created traditional yet sexy outfits from India to Thailand to Korea.

You know me I can't resist and sale and the fact that I had just finished watching a show with a India/Hindi Inspired Wedding my first selection was her Sculpted Sari.

Finally I got to use my [LAP] Bolly all the time poses! The Sari comes with 4 choices of tops, the Sandals and the bindi/eye jewels. She has the jewels attached to the nose so I edited to attach to chin due to my lashes.




Though here you see me in a pink and black sari she has several textures and colors to choose from including the tradtional Red and Gold for weddings. Plus this is only one of many style variations she has


She also has a couple of great outfits for men! Here I got the Churidar in Green for Davey. I love the fact he lets me dress him!




The men's outfit come complete with sandals as well. These sandal for for a size 35 foot and are no mod. So men will have to alter their foot shape to get the right look. I also had to stretch the scarf .

Lastly is the Enchantress gown. Not so much an Ethnic Feel, but is a beautiful gown that comes with 3 skirt options, stockings, Gloves etc. Not to mention plenty of texture/colors to choose from. Since the gloves and the socks had the same texture I decided to mix it up a bit to give this Springtime gown a bit of Umph.



Paired with the long gloves from Sn@tch and jewelry from Alienbear I am ready for a night out on the town. Just don't ask me to walk too quickly in this tight skirt. *winks*

Making Filthy Feel Good!

My friend Elysia Mai has just opened her first shop in SL called Filthy*Pussy. The name is a bit extreme I know but once you get beyond it you will find cute stuff with a bit of edge to it. Her store is small with just a few items, but she is busy creating new designs every day! I made a point to be her first store customer and grabbed a couple of items before she had time to just send them too me.



This skull ribbon sweater has to be my favorite of her items. She includes a pair of capri/tights on a pants layer but I chose to combine it with leggings I got from the .:Malt:. hunt last week.

I am also wearing on of the new hairs by Aemelia Case of Philotic Energy. This one is called Stephanie. I really love the little tendrils and the fall in the back that makes it less formal.



Another cute little dress she has done is call the bubblegum dress.. Sweetheart pink with a touch of tulle and a black corset with buckles.



With all that pink its really easy to overload on the cute meter. I don't know if I helped or hindered by adding the star tights from Bingo and the Sweater Boots that were a group gift from Sweeter Than Candy.

You may recognize the new ETD hair from my earlier post.

My last pics were inspired not only by this hair from Philotic Energy but seeing Gilles dance the Argentine Tango on "Dancing With the Stars" (My drooling really bruised the boyfriends ego) But really it wasn't so much Gilles that did it it was the overall dance! I would love to dance a tango with that kind of beauty and passion.



This dress is by Kellie Iwish of Elate! Perfect for an evening of dancing I combined it with shoes from Maitreya a dramatic skin from Curio and this gorgeous Portia Hair. I just love that flower!
